Swerve Strickland Feels Like He Has Catapulted Himself As One Of The Top Guys In Wrestling

Swerve Strickland continues to target the AEW World Championship.

At AEW Full Gear, Swerve Strickland defeated Hangman Page in a Texas Death Match. In doing so, he beat the former AEW World Champion for the second time. Strickland continues to gain momentum, as he beat Jay Lethal in an AEW Continental Classic match on the November 22 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Strickland was asked to describe how he would top the Texas Death match and explain what comes next.

"I don’t even know how to top anything like that. People were saying, how do I top the Hell of War match six years ago. People said the same thing then. I don’t know. You never think about how you top something when you’re setting it," Strickland said.

Strickland continued by stating that he feels like he has launched himself into the level of the top guys in the industry. He emphasized that his goal is to be the first African-American AEW World Champion, and he believes he is in a league of his own,

"I feel like I catapulted myself as one of the top guys in the industry, and like I said, I said this before earlier this year, and it made a lot of noise then. I really feel like I can be the first African-American AEW World Champion. I have no problem saying and stating, I’m in a league of my own when it comes to that. I really am," Strickland said.
