Swerve Strickland says his get back at Hangman Adam Page may also be him reclaiming the AEW World Title.
At AEW All Out 2024, Swerve Strickland met Hangman Adam Page in a Lights Out Steel Cage match that pushed the boundries of pro wrestling, including the pair trying to stab each other with a charred piece of wood from Strickland's childhood home. Page would end up defeating Sweve with a devastating chair shot to the skull. Strickland has not been on AEW television since.
While speaking on The Breakfast Club, Swerve Strickland noted that he feels like it's possible he could get revenge on Hangman Page at the same time he reclaims the AEW World Championship.
"Maybe one day, it might be one in the same. Hangman is on a streak right now. He’s on a warpath. In a lot of ways, him pressing me has made him better. I brought out something great in him that, eventually, with my absence, he probably will be a World Champion again. Maybe, at that time, I’ll get back. I’ll get my get back and the World Championship at the same time. That’s what Swerve brings to this roster of All Elite Wrestling. I make your guy better. In turn, he makes me better. He pulls me up to the main event, I make history, first Black AEW World Champion. First Black World Champion to main event Wembley Stadium, ever in the history of that building. Boom, cage match, he takes me out, my body is wrecked, he becomes better. I bring him back to the main event scene. We’re killing each other, but at the same time, we’re bettering each other and the product."
Hangman Page recently competed on AEW Collision Grand Slam, defeating Jeff Jarrett in a lumberjack strap match. You can read more about that here.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Swerve stated his belief that he doesn't think he will end up back in WWE any time soon. You can read more about that here.
