Swerve Strickland References 2016 Dean Ambrose-John Cena Promo; Tells Jon Moxley, 'Have Fun Continuing To Play Moxley On TV'

Swerve Strickland and Jon Moxley came face-to-face on AEW Dynamite.

Strickland called out Moxley, asking Moxley, "What happened to you? Jon Moxley used to be revered in AEW. You and the AEW Championship used to be synonymous with one another." Swerve said that Moxley was hiding behind the Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, and Marina Shafir) and that Moxley is no longer worried to be the world champion.

He said that everything Moxley used to describe himself as is now him.

Moxley replied by saying that wrestling has been taken over by celebrities and billionaires and talent agencies and Instagram kids who view things through a filter, and Swerve gives him hope that all he's put himself through was worth it. Moxley says he knows what Swerve is and what he could be. Moxley said he hopes Swerve can be everything he hopes he could be, but how far is he willing to go?

During their exchange, Claudio Castagnoli appeared behind Prince Nana and Willow Nightingale prevented Marina Shafir from getting involved.

Swerve said that Moxley was finally dealing with someone smarter than him. "You want to talk unscripted violence. I am violence. You bled pints. I bled pints. You've been in Texas Death Matches. I've won them. I am the most dangerous man in AEW. In Philadelphia, I take back the AEW World Title and continue to lead the Dynasty Era. While I do that, you have fun continuing to play Jon Moxley on TV."

The final line by Swerve was a call back to Moxley's 2016 promo in WWE when he was Dean Ambrose, addressing John Cena.

Swerve will challenge Moxley for the AEW World Title at AEW Dynasty.
