Former TNA Knockout Taylor Wilde made her surprise return to IMPACT Wrestling this past week. As IMPACT Wrestling debuted on its new night, I couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic with my own memories of TNA airing on Thursday nights from the IMPACT Zone in Orlando. Further adding to that aforementioned nostalgia was the wild return of Taylor Wilde - yes pun intended! With the company putting new focus on building their talent and pushing the envelope, IMPACT fans were ecstatic to Taylor Wilde once again grace their screens.
Being an IMPACT Wrestling fan prior to being signed in 2012, I highly looked up to women like Taylor Wilde. Her style was fresh, fun, spunky, and exciting to watch. She and Roxxie made me feel like it was okay to be different and to try and own who you are. Taylor's radiant yet fearless personality seemed to grab you through the screen when she performed. She was one of my favorites amongst a truly diverse and versatile Knockouts Division that I was proud to become a part of one day in the future. Taylor Wilde, Gail Kim, Roxxi Laveaux, Hamada, Sarita, Awesome Kong, Sojo Bolt, Mickie James, and others paved the way for IMPACT Wrestling to not only gain a Knockouts Title but also Knockouts Tag Team Titles. Taylor Wilde would see herself hold both and I believe if im not mistaken, she was the first Knockout to hold both.
I cannot begin to describe the dues paid by women like Taylor Wilde. Dues that we as women still benefit from today both in and out of IMPACT Wrestling. Titles that at one point didn't exist, are now back in full form by the next generation. As Taylor Wilde returns to a brand new era within the the company, one has to wonder what that may mean for the current champions? Will veteran experience, gratitude, and knowledge win out the day? Or will hunger and chips on the proverbial shoulder prove insurmountable for the former Knockouts Champion and 2x Knockouts Tag Team Champion?
There's no doubt that the current Knockouts Champion The Virtuosa Deonna Purrazzo, fresh off of a huge win against the badass future WWE Hall of Famer The Phenom Jazz, and the current reigning Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire n Flava will have quite a bit to say as they've never been ones to mince words in the face of opposition. Although, in that regard, I equally cannot recall a challenge Taylor Wilde never rose up to meet whether adversity or even the immovable force of Awesome Kong. With change shaking up the IMPACT Knockouts Division, there's sure to be more to come. Stay tuned as the returning Taylor Wide makes her presence both known and felt. I'm extremely elated to see this unfold. Knockouts consider yourselves warned…
