This past Friday WWE made some key move to secure optimal solutions to an ongoing problem on Smackdown. With 2021 halfway into the year it was important for WWE to add more depth and demographic representation to their thinned out Friday Night Smackdown women's roster. A point stressed to the max amidst the swift hiatus of Bayley due to injury. A point further made with only a handful of existing women's tag teams on the main rosters after the time offs of Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks as well as the releases of The Iconics, Ruby Riott, Lana. Insert Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox.
While I was among the WWE Universe who were surprised by this duo's sudden emergence on Smackdown, I can definitely say I don't hate it! In all actuality what I did find surprising was the breaking up of an existing tag team from another brand. A successfully established NXT Tag Team where one member was familiar with being on the main roster. An NXT Tag Team who up until this past Friday night were currently present in an ongoing storyline at NXT. Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon together became an NXT fan favorite in the newer NXT Women's Tag Team Division under the black and gold banner. However, with that said, it's interesting to note that the team of Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon was out together in a similar fashion to Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox now…
As a woman in Pro Wrestling and an avid tag team wrestling fanatic, it's my opinion that WWE holds much promise in the newly formed duo of Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox. A highly successful debut against the current WWE Women's Tag Team Champions doesn't hurt either! With Riott Squad unfortunately disassembled, championship gold and main roster success therein could be imminent for Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart. I think perhaps some may be hung up on how new the team came about. Especially considering Shotzi was just competing on NXT prior to the Great American Bash with Ember Moon. And not to mention the fact that Tegan Nox on recently made her long awaited return from injury.
But, in my opinion, that's simply a knee-jerk reaction. This is a good match no matter how it came about as it serves two purposes for WWE and fans alike. As well as the familiarity the two share with one another after being on the Shimmer rosters for some time prior to WWE. Now some speculation has been circulating on their names and the likelihood of us seeing more from "Nox" and "Shotzi." Either way, as far as debuts go, it doesn't get much better than a huge win over a champion on the main roster in your division to cement your own status as the newest WWE Superstars preparing to make their mark on the WWE Universe. I think we'll be seeing a lot more from Shotzi and Nox as they continue to fight their way up the ranks of Friday Night Smackdown and into the hearts of the WWE Universe. A win over Natalya is just the beginning for the new dynamic duo. Tune in to WWE on Friday nights to see Shotzi and Nox lay the Smackdown on the rest of the WWE Women's Tag Teams and potentially championship gold in the near future…
