As 2020 reaches its halfway mark, it's clear we need some positivity. June is coming to a close, heading into July, and it seems we're headed towards level 7 of Jumanji. It's time to see the possibilities and potential going forward. In my opinion, Sonny Kiss, is exactly what the industry needs right now. AEW, do it and do it now! What do I mean? Well, let's get "Sonny Side Up!" (Yes, pun intended.) Sonny Kiss was on the Independents for a few years. Originally from New Jersey, Sonny is no stranger to the East Coast wrestling scene. Many fans have gotten to see him all over including places like Lucha Underground. When AEW started announcing their signed talents, I was overjoyed to see a certain name in particular - Sonny Kiss. Sonny has been signed to AEW since roughly February 2019. Since then, I've been patiently waiting for the world to fall in love with Sonny Kiss for all that he is capable of. Sonny Kiss is a role model you wouldn't mind looking up to. He's a fresh take on the Pro Wrestling Industry by simply being himself. An attribute, I might add, that is strongly lacking in many people as they struggle to navigate a Social Media World. A world full of likes, comments, trolls, swipe rights, ads, bullying, violence, and so much more. Sonny Kiss has talent galore just waiting to be unleashed. Charisma, positive energy, athleticism, grace, pure talent. That's a Superstar in the making. College educated, Sonny's dance background shines through his polished in ring work with grace, light feet, and precision. That Molly-Go-Round a.k.a Sonny Side Up - WOW! (Hence the pun. You're welcome.) There are very few people that have anything negative to say about Sonny Kiss. Those that do, I think are simply projecting their own insecurities. It should be hard not like a person who not only overcomes adversity but does it with their head held high fighting for a dream... With AEW on TNT every Wednesday, Sonny Kiss is now in a prime position to be a breakout star in 2020. One of the more positive wrestlers on Social Media, Sonny is a perfect example of overcoming bullying both in and out of wrestling. A powerful source of inspiration to the LGBTQ Community! But, if I'm being completely honest, I find Sonny to be an inspiration for almost anyone. Pro Wrestling is a hard business. Navigating it while maintaining integrity and gumption are a daily struggle within the business. Yet, if you've been a fan of Sonny Kiss for any length of time, you would have seen him navigating it with class and positivity as best he can. That deserves applause in and of itself. Again, this isn't easy. The lifestyle, the bumps, the opportunities, the lack of opportunities, the obstacles, the hate, the love, it all plays on your favorite wrestlers whether its talked about or not. Recently, on AEW programming, I've seen a glimmer hinting at the rise of Sonny Kiss and I'm excitedly waiting for it to unfold. Seeing Sonny Kiss appearing with The Bad Boy Joey Janela was like WOW the team we didn't ask for but definitely needed! Yes! Regardless of your favorite brand, this isn't a you versus them article. This is about cheering on the good - spreading love not hate. As I've constantly said, success isn't a pie. More success for someone else doesn't mean less success for you or your favorite brand. Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela are the team we didn't even know we needed and yet here we are. I'm all for it. The vignettes and promos alone will be gold. The Babe and The Bad Boy! Cheers AEW! Let this finally be a chance for the world to see Sonny Kiss and all he is capable of and add onto that a new character element for Joey Janela. I'm excited to see where this storyline goes and the longevity of it. There's potential for it. We've seen a good deal of Joey Janela on AEW. However, Sonny Kiss has had only a few appearances. Now, with this team, there is immense potential of them both being some of the most entertaining T.V., to help you escape the fact that we're all waiting for whomever's playing Jumanji to finish the game. This idea will give Sonny a chance to be prominently featured on TNT with AEW, as well as giving Joey Janela some new material to evolve his television character providing him more depth and booking potential.
