Taichi To Defend NEVER Openweight Title Against Hirooki Goto At NJPW Power Struggle

A change has been made to this weekend's NJPW Power Struggle card.

As previously reported, Will Ospreay suffered an injury at a Revolution Pro Wrestling event on Oct. 14. Ospreay put out on social media that he was doing "ok" after landing poorly on a pele kick and just needed time off to rest. As a result of the injury, he was pulled from the NJPW Road to Power Struggle tour in hopes he would be ready for the Power Struggle event on Nov. 3.

Unfortunately, Ospreay was pulled from Power Struggle, where he was scheduled to move up to heavyweight and challenge Taichi for the NEVER Openweight Title

Needing a replacement bout, NJPW announced that former champion Hirooki Goto will now challenge Taichi for the strap. Taichi defeated Goto on Sept. 17 at Destruction in Beppu to kick off his first reign as NEVER Openweight Champion. Goto is a former three-time NEVER Openweight Champion and has the record for most combined defenses with seven.
