TNT And TBS GM Comments On AEW Dynamite Moving To TBS And 'Rhodes To The Top' Future

Beginning on January 5, 2022, AEW Dynamite will officially move to TBS.

The show is moving in large part due to TNT acquiring the rights to NHL games and the move will prevent preemptions that fans recently saw with Dynamite airing on Saturdays for two weeks in October due to the start of the NHL season.

Speaking to Deadline, TNT and TBS General Manager Brett Weitz commented on the move.

"We obviously make these decisions with a lot of data and gut behind them. The brand of TBS is we’re always here for a good time. That is exactly what AEW is and AEW Dynamite, and so, when we look at the concentric circles of TBS and TNT, our TBS viewer is a heavy drama viewer, believe it or not. So, we know that those fans will migrate over, and we also believe that wrestling fans find the content wherever it is, and we also think, more wrestling’s better for everybody, honestly," he said.

TNT has touted the success of AEW Dynamite and Rampage as the shows regularly top, or are near the top, on cable.

Along with wrestling, AEW and TNT partnered for "Rhodes to the Top," a reality show focusing on the lives of Cody & Brandi Rhodes. The first season held its finale on October 23.

When asked if a decision has been made on season two, Weitz said, "No. Not yet. It just ran and finished, and we’re settling in with numbers. You know this, Nellie, to just go Live+Same Day is so antiquated. You want to see how things are consumed on VOD and see how things continue to play out."

Though AEW Dynamite will move to TBS, AEW Rampage will remain on TNT.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
