Tony D'Angelo makes history.
On the May 14 episode of WWE NXT, Tony D'Angelo challenged Charlie Dempsey for the NXT Heritage Cup. The week before, D'Angelo and The Family abducted Dempsey's stablemates, Myles Borne and Damon Kemp, to neutralize the Catch Clause, ensuring that he would face Dempsey.
D'Angelo and Dempsey felt each other out with some technical wrestling, and "The Don" scored the first fall with a roll-up. Dempsey nearly scored a fall with an arm-bar, but the round ended before D'Angelo tapped out. Dempsey evened the score with a bridging pin after a suplex. The bell ringing then prevented D'Angelo from getting a fall in the next round.

Damon Kemp and Myles Borne ran down and brawled with Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Luca Crusifino, and D'Angelo got involved. Still, "The Don" went on to win the match as he slammed Dempsey with Forget About It to capture the NXT Heritage Cup.

With the win, D'Angelo became the first non-European NXT Heritage Cup Champion.
The loss brings Dempsey's first reign to an end at 78 days. He won the title by beating Noam Dar on the February 27, 2024, episode of WWE NXT.
