Tony Khan comments on the changing backstage structure in All Elite Wrestling.
As 2023 comes to a close, multiple individuals who have helped AEW grow behind the scenes have announced that they are departing the company. QT Marshall, Dana Massie, and Rafael Morffi are all moving on from AEW as the backstage structure continues to change.
During a media call prior to AEW Worlds End, Tony Khan addressed those departures and remains optimistic about the changes coming to AEW both in front of and behind the camera.
"I have some pretty big things to announce going forward. Obviously, it’s a lot of people I really value. I could write a book on each of these people and I really value them," Khan said. "When you talk about Dana, Raf, and QT, each of them has been with us since the beginning and made huge contributions to the company. It’s really very challenging to have people like that step away. The company is growing, and I’m very excited about what we’ll be doing in 2024. On the business side and operational side, the company continues to grow. I have certainly been looking at making more hires and growing the company. I’m working on stuff that I’m really excited about. At the end of the year, not unusual in businesses, for contracts and things to expire December 31 and new cycles to start January 1. It’s going to be a new group and there will be new things happening and I’m really excited about it. I would be remiss not to say that I’m really grateful for all the contributions of the people just mentioned. Going forward, we’ll have new exciting things to announce and I’m looking forward to that. We’re working on cool stuff to continue growing the company on the wrestling side, most importantly, and the business side."
Shawn Spears, a veteran wrestler who spent time at the top of the card at the start of AEW, also recently announced his mutual departure from the company. Learn more here.
