Sting's legendary career was thought to be over in 2015 when he suffered a neck injury that forced him into retirement.
Sting came out of retirement for a cinematic match at AEW Revolution 2021 and then stepped back into the ring in proper fashion at AEW Double or Nothing 2021. Since then, Sting has never lost in an AEW ring and has competed multiple times a year.
Speaking on the Chase McCabe Show, AEW President Tony Khan praised the success of Sting after discussing legends like Jeff Jarrett, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, and more who have bought in to the vision of AEW.
"When you talk about some of the biggest names in pro wrestling, for me, it starts and ends with Sting. He's one of the all-time legends, he's one of my all-time favorites. He's still a huge part of AEW. One of the greatest things we've accomplished is bringing Sting out of retirement. He is still wrestling to this day. He is undefeated in AEW, in fact, and on the greatest run of his career, right now, here in AEW," he said.
Sting is set to compete at AEW All In when he teams with Darby Allin to take on Swerve Strickland & AR Fox in a coffin match.
