Tony Schiavone: Things Are Not As Bad In AEW As Bullshit People On The Internet Would Say

Tony Schiavone comments on reports of AEW's backstage environment.

Schiavone was promoted to Senior Producer and Special Advisor to Talent in AEW at the beginning of August, giving him new responsibilities backstage. Over the past week, various reports have come out regarding the backstage environment and reported unhappiness among certain people and groups in AEW stemming from CM Punk calling out Hangman Page on AEW Dynamite, which wasn't a planned part of his promo.

Speaking on What Happened When, Schiavone commented on his new responsibilities and reports regarding the backstage mood in AEW.

"(I) enjoy my job, enjoy my new responsibilities with the company. They are challenging, but those are challenges that I readily accepted when I took the job. I'm seeing a whole new part of wrestling and wrestlers that I didn't see before," he said.

When co-host Conrad Thompson commented, "mostly fun?" Schiavone replied, "Yeah, I think so. There are some challenges, as you know, and of course the internet is going crazy about this or that. I'm not going to get into it because...I'm going to say this right now, things are not as bad as bullshit people on the internet would say. Not even close to it. We've got some things in place now that I think are going to make us better than ever."

Schiavone previously commented that he was hoping to improve the communication and organization in AEW when promoted to his new position.

Punk will be in action on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite when he takes on Jon Moxley in an AEW World Title Unification bout. Fightful will have live coverage of show beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
