Tony Schiavone comments on Anarchy in the Arena.
It's not an exaggeration to say that Anarchy in the Arena at AEW Double or Nothing featured some unbelievable moments. One such moment would see Darby Allin, despite recently suffering a broken nose after being run over by a bus while he was already nursing a broken foot, setting Jack Perry on fire with a blowtorch.
Later in the match, Darby Allin would be hung upside down and hoisted high above the ring in a manner akin to the way that the Age of the Fall hung Jay Briscoe during their Ring of Honor debut at ROH Man Up 2007.
Speaking about this wild match, Tony Schiavone said, on the latest episode of his What Happened When podcast, that while the event was definitely memorable, he couldn't help but think to himself, "What the fuck are we doing?"
"So some things happened in that match," said Schiavone. "Obviously, the one thing that happened was Jack Perry getting burned, but a lot of things happened in that match. Darby being tied up by his legs. As that's going on, to be honest with you, I'm thinking, 'What the fuck are we doing?!'
"Again, you're right. It's memorable. It's things that happened that you're going to remember for a long long time. When people say, 'Hey, did you ever see AEW Double or Nothing?' They're going to say, 'Yeah, I remember when they burned Jack Perry and they tied Darby Allin upside down, and he wore a face guard with thumbtacks on.'"
