And new!
On May 28, Matt Cardona suffered a torn bicep while competing against Blake Christian at GCW Downward Spiral. The following week, while at the C.O.S event in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Cardona officially announced that he could be out of action anywhere from 3 to 5 months. He underwent surgery this past Tuesday, June 7.
Cardona was set to defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Nick Aldis this evening at NWA Alwayz Ready, but instead, was forced to relinquish his title. The main event then turned into a Fatal Four-Way Match for the vacant title between Aldis, Trevor Murdoch, Sam Shaw, and Thom Latimer.
After a hard-fought encounter that saw each man come close to ending the bout on numerous occasions, it was Murdoch who picked up the win after hitting a bulldog off the top rope to Aldis. With his victory, he becomes a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
