Trey Miguel Shares The Meaning Behind MSK's Name

Trey Miguel knows what MSK stands for.

In December 2020, Trey Miguel's former Rascalz teammates Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz signed with WWE, debuting in NXT just one month later as Wes Lee and Nash Carter. Their team name; MSK. They've been on a tear in the time since, winning not only the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic but also the vacant NXT Tag Team Championship at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.

One question has remained, however; what is the meaning of MSK? Speaking with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, the IMPACT Wrestling Superstar shed some light on the matter. He said the following:

"MSK has a meaning. They don't know if they want to go with it or not. So, what they were told is, 'We're just going to call you MSK and see if the internet comes up with something better than what we have."

Co-host and former X-Division Champion Petey Williams asked for clarification as to whether it was WWE's idea or Dez and Zach's, to which Trey Miguel said this:

"Yeah, it was a little bit of both because we used to be part of this thing called J.M.L. where it was not an acronym for anything. It didn't stand for anything at all. People wanted to know what it meant because we put periods between everything. It was an umbrella of Tommy End, Shane Strickland, Sami Callihan, Zach, Dez, myself, both the Crist brothers. We were all J.M.L. and we would do this [holds up hand sign] but no one knew what J.M.L. meant. We would tell people, 'If you don't know, you don't know.' There was literally no -- it wasn't an acronym, though. That's what MSK essentially is. There's no meaning, but they said if the internet came up with something cool that maybe they'd use it."

MSK just successfully defended their Tag Team Titles on the April 13 edition of NXT, defeating Killian Dain and Drake Maverick. As for Trey Miguel, he is scheduled to face Sami Callihan in a Last Man Standing Match at IMPACT Rebellion on Sunday, April 25. For more information about the event, click here.
