Trick Williams' second reign as NXT Champion came to an end at NXT New Year's Evil when he was defeated by Oba Femi.
Femi pinned Trick in the triple threat match that also included Eddy Thorpe. The finish saw Trick miss a trick shot knee on Femi, but connect with a chair held by Thorpe. Femi delivered a powerbomb on Trick for the win.
"Being real, calling a spade a spade, as much as I'm not happy about what happened, Oba is the real deal. He is the most dominant presence in the ring that I've faced thus far. There is only one Oba Femi. The truth is, also, there is only one Trick Williams," Trick said while speaking to Mike Jones of DC101.
Trick's title reign lasted 99 days. He made three successful title defenses.
