Trick Williams looks back on making history.
Trick Williams continued his ascension to the top of NXT when he and Carmelo Hayes headlined NXT Stand & Deliver 2024. The show broke NXT's attendance record, and Williams scored the win. Williams went on to defeat Ilja Dragunov to win the NXT Championship at NXT Spring Breakin' Week One.
Speaking on WWE's The Bump, Trick Williams was asked to reflect on main-eventing NXT Stand & Deliver and what it meant to do that with Carmelo Hayes.
“Man, we made history. We broke records all in the same night, and the thing is, nobody saw this coming. Nobody knew that Trick Williams was gonna rise to the occasion, man. God just had a plan right here. As great as the moment is, to have that with the man that I used to call my brother, I hate it have to end like this, but it is what it is, man. It’s cool that, in the history books, when it goes down, they’re gonna say, ‘Hey, who had the biggest attendance ever in an NXT match?’ They’ll say Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Until the next PLE, when we break that one [laughs]," Trick Williams said.
In the 2024 WWE Draft, SmackDown selected Carmelo Hayes. He then faced Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in the main event of the April 26 episode of WWE SmackDown. Check out his post-match comments here.
