Asuka's next title challenge will be determined Monday on Raw.
WWE announced that NXT Women's Champion Charlotte Flair will take on Nia Jax and Natalya in a triple threat match on Raw. The winner will face Asuka for the Raw Women's Championship at WWE Backlash.
This would mark Asuka's first title defense since winning the title at WWE Money in the Bank. Asuka originally thought she won the annual Money in the Bank contract, but was awarded the title when Becky Lynch relinquished due to her pregnancy.
Flair has scored victories over Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan on recent episodes of Raw, Nia Jax competed in the Money in the Bank ladder match, and Natalya has been losing to Shayna Baszler.
The match was first advertised on the DirecTV guide in a preview for WWE Raw. The preview also advertised Drew McIntyre appearing in the VIP Lounge with MVP. WWE also confirmed the VIP Lounge segment with McIntyre in the same commercial, teasing that it may be a set-up by Bobby Lashley to weaken the WWE Champion ahead of their match at WWE Backlash.
Also official for Raw is a United States Championship bout between Andrade and Apollo Crews.
