Trish Stratus Feels That SummerSlam Match Against Charlotte Flair Will Be A Good Last Match For Her

Trish Stratus thinks SummerSlam will be a good way for her to go out.

WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus will have her first singles match this coming Sunday at SummerSlam since 2011. Trish is set to go one-on-one with former 10-time WWE Women's Champion Charlotte Flair. Charlotte and Trish have been laying the foundation for their match over the past two weeks and it all comes to a head in Trish's home country of Canada on August 11th. Trish has been making the rounds on the media circuit to promote the match and one of the outlets she spoke with was Busted Open Radio.

Trish joined Dave LaGreca and her long time friend and fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray for a 30+ minute conversation. Trish shared that she thought after her Hall Of Fame induction in 2013 that her in-ring career was over but fast-forward to 2019 to her upcoming match with Charlotte and Trish feels that this is the right way to close the book on her in-ring career.

“No, oh my God, 100%. I thought, ‘How much more closure could you have?’ Being away for this long already because at that point it had been three or four years I’d been officially retired and then I had a baby. I mean, gosh. A mom has no business in the wrestling world which now is hilarious because we have a pregnant 24/7 Champion so hey, things change quickly.” Trish laughed. “So yeah, and so many moms, there’s so many moms -- I heard [Mark] Carrano was gonna set up a kid room at one of the big pay-per-views because that is what [is] needed… ‘Retirement’ is a loose term in wrestling but I always said if there was something that was A, challenging, B, gonna do something for someone else, I would consider it and of course I love wrestling. It’s something that’s always gonna be a part of me, a part of my life. I watch it, follow it even if I don’t see it everyday, and so there’s opportunities like when this came up was something like, ‘Gosh, this has to happen’. Charlotte and I in the ring. It was just like -- you couldn’t put it together better. I feel like this is a good final match for me because I don’t feel like you could do anything more than this. This feels like a good ending for me. Like a real ending.” She said.
