Truth Magnum says the Omaha Men's Basketball and The Outrunners have a lot in common.
The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum) previously gave a pep talk to the Omaha Men's Basketball Team, who went on to defeat South Dakota. Omaha will compete in their first-ever March Madness, as they will face St. John's on March 20th.
Speaking on Emery Songer (via NewsRadio 1110 KFAB), Truth Magnum discussed the pep talk.
“Before the game, the boys were amped up. I think our hype-up speech had a lot to do with it. I let them know, nothing succeeds like success. I think that really sunk in for them. I don’t want to credit us for the win, but I think we had a big part of it. Then when that final buzzer rang, we went to the the locker room, we saw that trash can, and we beat the holy hell out of that trash can because that’s what we do," Magnum said.
Magnum was also asked about the similarities between The Outrunners and the Omaha Men's Basketball team. He noted that they both played with passion, and they were viewed as underdogs. However, he said that they could never be counted out.
“The Outrunners and The Mavericks, we’re very similar because we both play with a bunch of passion. Getting to know these guys, getting to see the city rally behind them, has just been awesome. Now that they’ve made the tournament, a lot of people are counting them as underdogs, just like they do The Outrunners. Well, trust me, there’s not enough fingers and toes on planet earth to count out the Mavericks or the Outrunners. That’s why we love each other," Magnum said.
