It's a family thing between Tamina Snuka and Vince McMahon.
In the lead up to Wrestlemania 1, one of the most popular WWF Superstars was Jimmy Snuka. Snuka, the top babyface (other than Hulk Hogan) that had been used to get Roddy Piper over in the months leading up to WrestleMania would also be in the corner of Hulk Hogan and Mr. T in the iconic main event of the first time event at Madison Square Garden.
25 years later, Jimmy Snuka’s daughter Tamina Snuka would debut by attacking Natalya. 11 years after that, Tamina teamed with Natalya to capture her first-ever Championship in WWE, the WWE women's Tag Team Championship.
In a special video capturing the moments behind the scenes during the day of the victory, Tamina Snuka can be seen sharing an embrace with and being personally congratulated by Vince McMahon. Jimmy Snuka never won a championship in WWE and although Jimmy Snuka’s son, Deuce of Deuce and Domino would be a champion, Tamina is the first to win a championship while carrying the Snuka name on television.
Throughout the video, names such as Tyson Kidd and Big E can be seen congratulating Tamina on this monumental moment for her, and even the production staff and announcer Greg Hamilton are seen being overwhelmed with emotion upon her victory.
Tamina even got a standing ovation walking through the curtain as she went to thank Tyson Kidd, who has been the main producer for all WWE women's matches.
