Since bursting onto the scene in 2002, Brock Lesnar has been one of the most dominant performers in the company's history, holding the WWE Championship 10-times. Vince McMahon, unsurprisingly, has a ton of respect for Lesnar, who during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, said that Brock is incredibly intelligent despite whatever preconceptions some might have about him.
"Brock Lesnar is an extraordinary human being. A smart son of a bitch. In general, really fucking intelligent. People have this perception, 'he's that big. He's a Neanderthal.' Okay, he looks like a Neanderthal, he's smarter than you, pal," Vince said.
From 2004 until 2012, however, Brock was not with WWE. Vince tells McAfee that he doesn't lose contact with individuals such a Lesnar or Steve Austin. In fact, he tries to make sure that someone within the company stays in contact with everyone who helped paved the way to where WWE is today.
"Some. It's not like I forget people. I love for them to stay in touch with me. I'm busy today doing this or doing other things. I don't lose contact with those (Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, The Rock) individuals. Some that are further down the line, I do. I try to make sure somebody in our company stays in contact with them. Everyone helped pave the way to where we are now and I'm always appreciative, however small or big that was, always appreciative for everyone that stepped in the ring and helped us to get where we are now," he said.
Continuing on the topic of Steve Austin, McMahon discussed the infamous hospital scene with himself, Austin, and Mankind from October 1998.
"It was so much fun. Being able to do this as opposed to the standards of a network 'no, you can't do this, you can't say that at all.' We were able to, at that time, it was the wild west. We added a little extra sauce on that and it was a blast.
For 30 minutes, Steve is walking up and down the hallway. I'm doing a setup in terms of producing, directing, all that shit. First thing I do is Mick Foley with Socko. Steve is walking down here and I go, 'What have you been doing?' 'Well, I was wondering whether or not I should hit you in the head with this bedpan.' It's a wonderful world. There is nothing like this world. He starts hitting his head with it like, 'I don't think it's going to hurt that much.' This fucking thing is thick as hell. When it's showtime, you don't even think about it. You just lay it in. That was fun," Vince shared.
Elsewhere during the interview, Vince spoke about how he enjoys physical confrontation, WWE's partnership with Saudi Arabia, as well as how he'll be inducting The Undertaker into the WWE Hall of Fame, among other things.
