WALTER has made history.
WALTER has officially been champion of NXT UK for 686 days, this makes him the longest-reigning champion in the history of the brand.
WALTER, the third man in history to win that championship, did so by defeating Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: New York during WrestleMania weekend in 2019.

Since that time, he has defended the championship against a wide variety of opponents including a critically-acclaimed match against Ilja Dragonuv during NXT UK’s early tapings at BT Sport Studio in London, England.
Of course, due to the global pandemic, much of the time that WALTER has been champion was during downtime for the brand which means the champion saw no competition whatsoever and to this day, NXT has not held a UK TakeOver event since January of last year.
Prior to the pandemic, it appeared that WALTER was building toward a match for the championship with current NXT Champion, Finn Balor. While names such as Toni Storm and Pete Dunne have since traveled to the United States, WALTER has remained in the United Kingdom.
