Former NXT North American Champion Wes Lee returned to the ring for the first time since November on the May 7 episode of WWE NXT. He defeated Josh Briggs in a singles match.
WWE announced that fans would hear from Wes Lee on the May 14 episode of WWE NXT.

Upon his return, Wes Lee confronted NXT North American Champion Oba Femi, making it clear that he wanted the title.
