Wes Lee is back in the squared circle.
On the December 5, 2023 episode of WWE NXT, Wes Lee announced that he'd be stepping away from wrestling, as he needed to get surgery on his back. At the time, NXT commentary announced that Lee could miss up to 12 months of action as a result of the injury.
On Wednesday, March 13, Lee took to social media to share a video of him stepping in a ring for the first time since the injury, with the caption "from the ashes".

Lee last competed on the November 28, 2023 episode of WWE NXT, when he faced and defeated Bronson Reed, Cameron Grimes, and Johnny Gargano in a four way match to determine the number one contender to the NXT North American Championship.
