Will Ospreay wants to get in the ring with Naomichi Marufuji.
The new IWGP United States Champion has been in the ring with plenty of legendary talent throughout his career, including big names like Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada, Shingo Takagi, AJ Styles, and Hiroshi Tanahashi.
While speaking on the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door post-show media scrum, Ospreay mentioned that he wants to face NOAH's Naomichi Marufuji in the future, as he is approaching his 25th anniversary of being a wrestler.
"I want to throw this out there while the conversation is on ‘best in the world.’ I have taken so much from a man that I completely respect and admire. I hold him to the highest regards. In September, he’s celebrating his 25th anniversary of being a pro wrestler. I’ve just got to say it; he was my idol growing up. I would love to be in the ring with Naomichi Marufuji, if that was possible. The ball is in NOAH’s court. I think we can work something out."
Pro Wrestling NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling have collaborated on a number events in recent years.
Elsewhere on the scrum, Ospreay noted that he's likely going to stop working the independent scene after this year. Fans can learn more here.
