Wrestlers Pay Tribute To Jay Briscoe On 1/18 AEW Dynamite, Tribute Show To Be Filmed

The wrestling world tragically lost Jamin Pugh (Jay Briscoe) on Tuesday, January 17 when he died in a car accident. He was 38.

Briscoe was one-half of the reigning ROH Tag Team Champions alongside his brother Mark Briscoe and a member of the ROH Hall of Fame. Jay was a staple of ROH, competing in the first-ever match in the company, winning the ROH World Title two times, and the ROH Tag Team Titles with his brother 13 times.

On Wednesday's AEW Dynamite, the show opened with a graphic honoring Jay.

Tributes from wrestlers throughout the show:

- Jay Lethal wore a black armband honoring Jay. Lethal and Briscoe wrestled multiple times throughout their careers, first meeting in 2003 and last squaring off in 2021. Lethal won his first ROH World Title when he defeated Briscoe at ROH Best in the World 2015.

- The Best Friends (Trent & Chuckie T) wore black armbands. Best Friends wrestled the Briscoes a handful of times.

- Tony Khan announced after AEW Dynamite they would film a special ROH tribute to Jay that will be available for free on Honor Club.

- The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) wore armbands for Jay. The Young Bucks had many matches with The Briscoes, including the Young Bucks final televised ROH match at ROH Final Battle 2018 in a ladder war that also featured SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky).

- Young Bucks used a Doomsday Device during their match against Top Flight. The move was often used by the Briscoes.

- Bryan Danielson wore an armband. Danielson wrestled Jay at ROH Final Battle 2003 and multiple times throughout his career.

- Bandido wore an armband as well. Along with competing through their careers, Bandido and Briscoe teamed in the Christmas Wildcard 12 Man, which was the final first-run match to air on ROH Television.
