WWE 2K25 features major updates for women's matches.
In WWE 2K25, women's matches will feature blood. This is the first time women's matches will feature blood without modding. Like men's matches, the blood flow will increase as competitors take more damage. This comes as the Underground Match, a gritty staple of NXT in recent years, is also added to the game.
Another addition to the video game this year is the return of intergender matches. While women can bleed in matches with one another, they will not be able to bleed in matches against male Superstars.
WWE 2K Creative Director Lynell Jinks talk about these editions during a recent interview with DS of Ring the Belle.
"Being able to like in women versus women matches, not intergender matches. You can not only, like, cut someone open and see some color on women Superstars, but also bruising, too. If you're pounding somebody, you'll start to see bruises on their face or on their body or whatever," said Jinks. "Making sure that we're trying to represent the WWE you would see on TV, like when Becky Lynch got her moniker, right? That's how it started. That broken nose from Nia, right? So, being able to finally see that in our game is huge for us."
While the incident with Becky Lynch happened more than six years ago, Liv Morgan was busted open on the most recent episode of WWE Monday Night Raw on Netflix during a tag team match where she teamed with Raquel Rodriguez against IYO SKY and Dakota Kai.
Blood in WWE 2K Games continues to show the evolution of women's wrestling in WWE as there was once a time when, even if you put two women in a Ladder Match, if you used the ladder for anything other than climbing, the match immediately ended in disqualification.
