WWE Announces 'Crown Jewel'; World Cup Tournament, Universal Title Match Set To Headline

The worst kept secret in wrestling is finally out there.

In the opening segment of Raw, Acting General Manager Baron Corbin announced that on Nov. 2, WWE will return to Saudi Arabi for a special event titled Crown Jewel. And no show would be complete without a main event. Immediately after announcing Crown Jewel, Corbin booked a triple threat match between Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Braun Strowman for the Universal Title.

It was also noted within the 'Crown Jewel' press release on WWE's website that at the Saudi Arabia show on November 2nd there will be a WWE World Cup tournament to determine the best in the world but there was no further information on the tournament other than that.

Lesnar returned to the company on Sunday at Hell in a Cell, interrupting the main event between Reigns and Strowman. The match ended in a no contest after Lesnar laid out both men.

Reigns captured the Universal Title from Lesnar at SummerSlam, finally ending the Beast's reign. Lesnar was not granted his rematch by General Manager Kurt Angle. After two failed surprise cash in attempts at SummerSlam and the night after, Strowman announced his intentions to use his Money in the Bank briefcase to receive a title shot at Hell in a Cell.
