WWE is going "waaayyy back" next Friday night on SmackDown.
During the April 30 episode of SmackDown, it was announced that a "Throwback Edition" of the show would be taking place next week (May 7, 2021).

It's not uncommon for WWE to dive back into their past from time to time. In 2010, 2013, and 2014 they held "Old School" Raw's that made use of familiar sets and aesthetics dating back to the show's debut in 1993. There have also been a number of Reunions that brought back past talent. In 2018, RAW returned to the Manhattan Center for the 25th Anniversary Special.
SmackDown has previously celebrated 1000 episodes and 20 years on the air, but it remains to be seen how far back WWE will go in decorating next Friday's stage. The commercial seems to imply the 80's and 90's, but that is in no way official.

Also set for the May 7 show is a WrestleMania 37 rematch between Seth Rollins and Cesaro. The Swiss Superstar defeated Rollins that night and then again last week on SmackDown in Tag Team action after Rollins walked out on his partner, Jey Uso. Seth issued the challenge, looking to avenge his losses and all the times he has been swung, and it was made official after Cesaro accepted later in the night.
