Another chapter in the rivalry between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle was written at Extreme Rules.
At the event, the two Superstars faced off in a Fight Pit. This was only the third time that stipulation has been employed, with the two other instances happening in NXT. To control the situation, WWE brought in UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier to officiate the fight.
In the end, it was Riddle who would emerge victoriously. He would hit a Floating Bro off of the platform and then apply a submission, forcing Rollins to tap out. Cormier would raise Riddle's hand, never having to get physically involved beyond telling each man not to touch him.

Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle
The match began with Riddle hitting two kicks on Rollins' leg before hitting a body shot on Rollins. Riddle hit two head kicks on Rollins, but Rollins blocked them with his arm. Riddle kicked Rollins in the abdomen before hitting a takedown and laying in the shots on Rollins. Riddle hit a high kick on Rollins off the cage before laying in the strikes on Riddle, but Cormier tossed Riddel to tell him to fight Rollins, not him. Rollins attacked Riddle from behind and stomped down Riddl. Riddel went for a Triangle on Rollins, but Rollins tossed Riddle to break the hold. Riddle locked in the Triangle Choke again but Rollins tossed Riddle onto the cage. Rollins pushed Cormier to hit knee strikes on Riddle, but Cormier pulled Rollins aside and told him to never touch him again. Rollins racked Riddle's head into the cage before hitting a forearm strike on the back of Riddle's neck. Rollins told Cormier to count Riddle, but Riddle stood up at the count of six. Rollins hit two superkicks on Riddle before instructing Cormier to start the count. Riddle got up at the count of six, but Rollins hammered in on Riddle. Riddle hit an overhead chop and slammed Rollins into the cage, but Rollins responded by hitting a suplex on Riddle onto the cage. Rollins climbed the cage before hitting a Twisting Frog Splash on Riddle before Cormier started the count again. Riddle got back up at the count of seven, but Rollins started laying in the penalty kicks on Riddle. Rollins talked trash to Riddle before going for the Peruvian Neck Tie, but Riddle twisted his way into hitting an RKO on Rollins from out of nowhere. The two got back up and started exchanging strikes before Riddle went for another RKO, but Rollins blocked it and hit a Curb Stomp on Riddle. Riddle got up at the count of nine before being greeted by Rollins with a stomp, but Riddle made Rollins climb onto the top of the Fight Pit. Riddle got to the top of the cage, but Rollins bit Riddle's fingers. Riddle instead locked in a sleeper on Rollins, but Rollins slammed Riddle into a chain attached to the cage before slamming Riddle's face into the cage. Rollins then hit a Buckle Bomb on Riddle onto the top part of the cage. Rollins hit a Pedigree o Riddle on the podium and demanded Cormier to count it, but Cormier informed him that he can only count if it is in the cage. Riddle hit an RKO on Rollins on the podium, sending Rollins back on the cage. Riddle, as the madman that he is, hit a Senton off the top part of the Cage onto Rollins. the two got back up at the count of nine before Riddle got Rollins in a Triangle Choke, but Rollins powerbombed Riddle across the ring and cage. Despite this, Riddle kept the hold on Rollins, leading to Rollins tapping out and giving Rollins the submission win.
