The arena for the 2019 Royal Rumble has been set.
The Arizona Republic announced this morning that Phoenix will hold next year's Royal Rumble. It will be held in a major baseball stadium, as it will take place at Chase Field, which can hold up to 40,000 people. The weekend will also have a NXT TakeOver and tapings of both Raw and Smackdown, which will be held close by at the Talking Stick Resort Arena.
“We have an incredibly rich history and heritage of presenting WWE events in the Valley of the Sun,” said John Saboor, who is the WWE executive vice president of special events. “In many respects, this serves as an exciting opportunity to work with longstanding and new partners in Phoenix to create four nights of memories.”
This will be the first time that the Royal Rumble will be held in a baseball stadium. The show has been held in a dome arena, as the Alamodome was home to the Royal Rumble in 1997 and 2017.
The 2019 edition of the Royal Rumble will take place on January 27.
