WWE Secures Trademarks For WCW Events That Were Previously Applied For By Cody Rhodes

WWE recently secured several trademarks pertaining to former WCW events. These trademarks are also ones that Cody Rhodes tried acquiring, and in some cases, successfully registered.

On November 3, 2020, WWE applied to trademark the following event names:

Will Opreay, Ricochet, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher Part Of All-Star Tag On Wednesday's AEW Dynamite

*Slamboree

* The Match Beyond

* Bunkhouse Stampede

* BattleBowl

* SuperBrawl

* Bash At The Beach

Cody previously stated in media calls that it was his goal to acquire trademarks for events that his father created on behalf of his mother who is the head of Dusty Rhodes’ estate.

WWE filed for the trademarks with the following description:

IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fans; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

AEW even ran two special episodes of Dynamite earlier this year which were titled “Bash at the Beach.” As of this writing, all of the trademarks except for “The Match Beyond,” were abandoned by Cody on Friday, October 30, 2020.

In other trademark news, Cody Rhodes recently gained the rights to his full name, although he says he will not be using the Cody Rhodes name in a wrestling capacity. Learn more at this link.
