SmackDown took a mature twist on Friday night as the show was listed as TV-14.
The show is typically rated as PG. No reason was given for the change, but WWE has tried to do more mature angles, specifically with the Retribution storyline. Though it was originally noted that Retribution was "not political," Michael Cole opened SmackDown by saying Retribution is "hiding behind current events" as they cause chaos around and inside the Performance Center.
In the past weeks, Retribution has thrown cinderblocks through windows, kicked tipped over cars, thrown Molotov cocktails at electrical equipment, and used a chainsaw to destroy the ring ropes.
Did I miss something? Or was it TV14 last week? #Smackdown pic.twitter.com/JdxR4KNpfs

It is unknown if this change is permanent or only for this week.
