Zack Ryder Injures Knee

Zack Ryder suffered some unfortunate luck in his first match since moving to Raw, sustaining a knee injury last night in St. Louis.

Ryder announced via Twitter on Tuesday morning that he injured himself during a match with Mike Kanellis taped for this week's broadcast of WWE Main Event. Because of the injury, Ryder apparently will skip this weekend's Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, which is sold out, and instead went back to Orlando for an MRI. Both Ryder and Kanellis came over to Raw during last week's Superstar Shake-Up.

Here's what Ryder said about the injury:

It's not the first time Ryder has suffered a knee issue. He missed the first half of 2017 after hurting his knee during a tag team battle royal in December of 2016 back when he was teaming with Mojo Rawley as the Hype Bros.

Ryder, who has been on the main WWE roster for more than a decade, is a former tag champion who also has had runs with the U.S. and Intercontinental titles, notably losing the IC belt to The Miz about 24 hours after he won it in a ladder match that opened the main card of WrestleMania 32.

Ryder currently is dating Chelsea Green (aka former Impact Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness), who was announced earlier this week as one of the latest names for the All In event being promoted by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks on September 1 in Chicago.
