Hideo Itami is coming to 205 Live.
It was announced during 205 Live tonight that Hideo Itami would be starting with the division next week. Several weeks of teasers, such as the one below led up to tonight's announcement.
Hideo Itami was best known for his run in Pro Wrestling NOAH. As KENTA, he was one of the promotion's top stars, winning both the Junior heavyweight and Heavyweight titles throughout his long career there. He had been with the promotion since its inception in 2000 and stayed there until he signed a developmental deal with the WWE in 2014.
Itami started off hot, but injuries halted his momentum. He suffered a major shoulder injury back in May of 2015 that kept him out of action for well over a year, returning in June the following year. Soon after that, he suffered another injury, this time to his neck that kept him out of action until this past April, where he returned and challenged Bobby Roode for the NXT title at Takeover: Chicago. He was unsuccessful.
He had recently been feuding with Aleister Black and Kassius Ohno, which led to him turning on the former, with his new gimmick being that he demanded respect. His last televised match was at NXT Takeover: Brookyln III where he lost to Black.
