"Good Ol' JR" Jim Ross returned to the WWE on Sunday night to help call the main event of WrestleMania 33 between Roman Reigns and The Undertaker.
It was the first time that Ross called a match at WrestleMania since calling the "End of an Era" Hell in a Cell match between Undertaker and Triple H at WrestleMania XVIII. And while many believed Ross' return was just a one time deal, that doesn't appear to be the case.
In an interview with Fox Sports, Jim Ross confirmed that his return at WrestleMania 33 wasn't just a one off. The man that many wrestling fans grew up listening to has indeed re-signed with the WWE on a two-year contract.
“It has a specific number of dates that I’m obligated to work, which I think is good for me,” Ross told Fox Sports. “So look at it this way: I got my jersey back. I got brought back to my home team, and my opportunities back in WWE, I’m sure, will be multi-fold."
Ross will be working for the company in a variety of ways, though it's not clear what those capacities are. He also added that he loves doing what he considers to be the "fun part" of his job which is calling matches.
Though they have a certain amount of days agreed upon for Ross to work, the 65-year-old WWE Hall of Famer is open to adding more dates to his work schedule.
“I hope to have more ‘fun part’ assignments in the future, but I’ve got my jersey back,” Ross said. “So if the team needs me to play, to work more than they anticipated because they need it, I’m in.”
As Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp put it, hearing Ross back on the mic calling a match for WWE makes our "ears feel good".
In addition, Sean Ross Sapp revealed on Twitter that Ross will be continuing his work with NJPW on AXS.
