Jim Ross says Kenny Omega should be at the top of WWE's list.
Omega recently competed for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 11. The match with Kazuchika Okada was well received by wrestling fans worldwide. With WWE Royal Rumble approaching, speculation about Omega entering the Royal Rumble match began. Ross spoke about the possibility in his blog from Monday.
"Enjoyed John Cena Instagram tease regarding Kenny Omega at this year's Royal Rumble event in San Antonio on Sunday January 29. It has certainly got folks talking and now speculation is rampant. My take on this matter is pretty simple: I'd be surprised if Kenny Omega wasn't a high priority for WWE to connect with and sign. Omega is under contract to NJPW until January 31, two days after the Rumble. Omega would be at the top of my 'need to sign list' if I were still in my old role in administration," wrote Ross.
In New Japan Pro Wrestling, Omega is apart of The Bullet Club, of which AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows and Finn Balor were all members. Ross believes if Omega were to join those men in leaving Japan for WWE, it would have to be for something special. In the past, Omega has expressed his desire to stay away from WWE.
Ross wrote "Omega likely isn't going to be swayed by merely a fat contract but also what are the creative plans the WWE has for him. This is a huge bonus for the talent if one can include this matter in the contractual conversations. Why wouldn't it be addressed?"
This week Ross will be recording commentary for a North American broadcast of Wrestle Kingdom 11. In his blog he also discussed Shawn Michaels on Monday Night Raw and Ronda Rousey's pay-per-view numbers.
