Bad news for New Japan Pro Wrestling and Bullet Club, as Kenny Omega has sustained a knee injury.
Omega suffered a lateral meniscus injury on his left knee that has sidelined him for the September Road to Destruction tour. He's set for surgery this week to repair the torn meniscus. Omega tweeted in regards to the news on Wednesday morning.
The tour was set to start Thursday morning (United States time), but the injury forced New Japan Pro Wrestling to replace him for the three week excursion. Omega is out of action until Destruction in Kobe, where he will defend his IWGP United States Championship against Juice Robinson.
Filling in for Omega is Tonga Leo, adopted son of Haku and brother of the Guerrillas of Destiny, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa. Previously, Leo has went by the names Hiku Le'o, or his real name Taula Fifita. Along with Steve Corino's son Colby, he was brought in as an NJPW young boy late last year. He wrestled in a losing effort at NJPW's "On The Mat" charity show in November 2016.
