UFC Lightweight Kevin Lee may not have his next fight in the Octagon set, but he may be taking part in a training camp to help Floyd Mayweather Jr train for a potential fight with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Lee says it was Mayweather Jr’s camp that contacted him about the opportunity.
"That fight with Floyd, it's going to happen. Floyd's management reached out to me a little while ago and asked me to be a part of the camp. So I'm excited to do that, I could use a couple bucks in my pocket, that's for sure,” Lee said during an appearance on Eyes On The Game.
The lightweight star last competed at UFC Fight Night 106, where he defeated Francisco Trinaldo by submission.
When it comes to the potential boxing matches effect on MMA, the lightweight contender sees no downside.
"It's great for MMA. It's a win-win for everybody, all things considered. As long as the UFC gets their cut. I think is the only thing holding them back is to negotiate the UFC's number, because I'm pretty sure the UFC's going to want a third. But it's great for MMA, because it has no downside. It's horrible for boxing, I ain't gonna lie. And they're paying me, so I better...(laughs)...but it's horrible for boxing. I think it's going to kill the sport of boxing, but the money is too large to pass up,” says Lee.
Although there is no date set yet for the fight, the UFC Lightweight Champion himself says the fight could happen this September.
