One of the top young wrestlers on the indies has made his NXT debut at the latest set of tapings.

Lio Rush, the 22-year-old indie star made his NXT debut at the September 14 tapings. Fightful managing editor Sean Ross Sapp is currently present at the NXT tapings at Full Sail University and confirmed Rush was set to face Aleister Black in his debut match.

But before any match could get started, the Velveteen Dream attacked Rush and thus, a Rush vs. Black match never occurred.

Later at the taping, Rush made his actual in-ring debut, losing the match to Velveteen Dream, that apparently contained at least one great sequence.

Rush signed with WWE earlier this year after making his pro wrestling debut in 2014. Rush is only 22 years old, making him one of the youngest wrestlers on the WWE roster. Rush is best known for his time in Ring of Honor (ROH), where he was the winner of the 2016 Top Prospect Tournament. He also spent time wrestling for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), where he was the former CZW World Heavyweight Champion and a former two-time CZW Wired Champion.

Speaking of CZW, back in August, Rush made news around the wrestling community when he no-sold a powerbomb through a table off a ladder during CZW's Once In A Lifetime event.

Rush now joins several other former Ring of Honor wrestlers to sign with WWE, including Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole and Donovan Dijak.
