Billy Quarantillo Felt Bad For Matt Frevola After Positive Coronavirus Test

Matt Frevola and Frank Camacho were scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov, but Frevola was pulled from the bout after cornerman and fellow UFC fighter Billy Quarantillo tested positive for the coronavirus.

Quarantillo says the whole experience has been an interesting one since the positive coronavirus test.

“It’s definitely been one of the most interesting experiences of my life,” Quarantillo told MMA Junkie. “I’m sure (it’s been) for Matt Frevola, too. We both kind of went through it this past week. I feel completely healthy. I’m obviously really discouraged Matt wasn’t able to fight but it was out of our hands (and) it was out of the UFC’s hands.”

Justin Jaynes wound up replacing Frevola in the bout and he scored a first round TKO win over Camacho.

The fighter says he feels bad that Frevola was pulled from the fight, but hopes the UFC will take care of Frevola in the end.

“We talked about it,” Quarantillo said. “Me and Matt talked about it. I felt bad it had to be me that got him removed from the fight, but I’m pretty sure the UFC is going to take care of him. Not only that, (but) he (also) didn’t get any injuries. He’s completely healthy. He was like seven pounds away from the weight cut.”

Two other UFC fighters have also tested positive for the coronavirus, with those being Ronaldo Souza and Lyman Good.
