Carlos Cuadras has been suspended by the World Boxing Council for a potential violation of the governing body's Clean Boxing Program.
The governing body released a statement, which can be seen below, that states Cuadras did not fail any drug tests for his February 24 fight against McWilliams Arroyo, which was televised on HBO as part of its "Superfly" series. Cuadras lost the fight, which was for the WBC Silver super flyweight title, by majority decision.
Former world champion Carlos 'Príncipe' Cuadras is temporarily suspended by the World Boxing Council, due to an issue related to the WBC`s anti-doping program.
Cuadras has not tested positive for any anti-doping test before or after his recent fight with Puerto Rican McWilliams Arroyo. This issue refers to the alleged consumption of recreational substances.
Cuadras has lost three of his last four fights, which includes a loss to Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez where Cuadras lost the WBC super flyweight title and to Juan Francisco Estrada in a WBC title eliminator. Cuadras held the WBC super flyweight title from 2014 to 2016, successfully defending the title six times.
In other news regarding super flyweight boxers and the WBC's Clean Boxing Program, WBC world champion Srisaket Sor Rungivsai missed a drug test and WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said the champion will not be suspended and instead pay a fine.
Sor Rungvisai has held the WBC title since defeating Gonzalez on pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden on March 2017. Sor Rungvisai, a two-time WBC world champion, last retained his belt when he defeated Estrada on HBO's "Superfly 2" special event that took place in California on February 24.
