UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor suffered a tenth round TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather at “The Money Fight.”
While McGregor entered the ring that night with all the equipment a fighter needs, that almost wasn’t the case in the end.
According to a report from TMZ, the UFC Lightweight Champion left his jockstrap, athletic cup and mouthpiece all at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. To make things even worse, all three pieces of equipment were custom made for McGregor to compete in during the super fight.
McGregor himself didn’t even realize that the custom made gear wasn’t with him at the arena until his hands were being wrapped.
A member of McGregor’s team actually left the T-Mobile Arena to race to McGregor’s home and acquire the equipment, making it back in time, well before the fight began.
As far as his opponent in Mayweather goes, the undefeated and now retired boxing great had no reported issues with missing fight gear before the bout began.
After all of this took place with the UFC Lightweight Champion’s missing gear, it is safe to say that if McGregor ever does make his return to the boxing ring, the same mistakes will not being taking place for a second time.
