Dana White: "We Wouldn't Let" Ali Abdelaziz Pay Tony Ferguson To Fight At UFC 254

UFC President Dana White is throwing cold water on a proposed fight between Tony Ferguson and Islam Makhachev.

Makhachev needs a new opponent for UFC 254 after the withdrawal of Rafael Dos Anjos. That led manager Ali Abdelaziz to offer Tony Ferguson $200,000 to take the fight; however, White says that will not be happening.

White says that while it was nice that Abdelaziz made the offer, there is no way the promotion would let it happen.

“Hey, Ali can pump up everybody’s paycheck if he wants to,” White said to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports (via Milan Ordonez of Bloody Elbow). “It’s good to be rich. That Khabib money. We wouldn’t let Ali put up the money. We wouldn’t let that happen.”

Makhachev was pulled from the event by the UFC. There is no word yet as to whether or not Makhachev vs. Dos Anjos will get rebooked or if the fighters will go their separate ways.
