We could be less than a month away from the launch of the much hyped “Fight Island,” which along with the UFC Apex, is expected to be the home for many UFC cards for quite some time.
UFC President Dana White doesn’t just plan on attending events on “Fight Island,” but he also plans on living there as well.
“People are very intrigued by ‘Fight Island,’ and I’m excited for it,” White said to ESPN (via MMA Junkie). “Right now we’re looking at June, and we’re literally gonna knock out three or four (events) there in a month. And I’m gonna stay on the island for a month. I’ll probably be there the whole month of July.”
No official events have been announced for “Fight Island” at this time, but Paige VanZant did say her upcoming contest against Amanda Ribas would be held there.
White also says that UFC owner Ari Emanuel is also getting asked a lot about the location of “Fight Island.”
“You know what’s hilarious about you asking me that question right now: Literally this morning when I was driving to work, I was talking to Ari, and Ari goes, ‘How many people a day ask you where Fight Island is?'” White said. “I guess people are blowing him up, asking where ‘Fight Island’ is.”
The location for the much hyped “Fight Island” has yet to be revealed to the general public.
