Dana White Says Colby Covington Is “Definitely In” For A Fight Against Tyron Woodley

Former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington recently claimed that former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley turned down an opportunity to fight him next month.

UFC President Dana White says that Covington is “definitely in” for a bout against Woodley, but everybody is just waiting on Woodley.

“It’s a fight we’re working on,” White said at a media scrum (via Alexander K. Lee of MMA Fighting). “Listen, Woodley said he wanted to fight him. Woodley’s been talking about fighting Colby Covington since Colby fought Usman, so it is true that Colby signed the deal and he’s ready to go. We’re just waiting on Woodley. I’m always trying to make the fights that should be made or people want to see. People can say whatever they want publicly, but behind the scenes it’s another story. I can’t speak honestly about what’s going on, I’m not involved with that, I’m in here, but we’re trying to make Woodley vs. Covington. Covington is definitely in.”

Woodley has stated that he is willing to fight Covington, but the former welterweight champion didn’t like the date selected by Covington.

A date for the potential fight seems to be the biggest issue right night now and it is something that even White cannot figure out.

“I don’t know,” White said. “I couldn’t tell you right now.”

There has been at least seven times, according to both Covington and Woodley, that a bout between the two could’ve happened already in the UFC.
