Dana White Says Khabib Nurmagomedov Is Top Pound For Pound Fighter With Win At UFC 254

Dana White will be in attendance this weekend at UFC 254, where Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje headline in a lightweight title unification bout.

The UFC President says that Nurmagomedov will become the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world if he defeats Gaethje this Saturday.

“Khabib is looking down the barrel of not only the greatest to ever do it in this division, but listen, I think if he beats Justin on Saturday, he’s the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world and he’s on his way to GOAT status,” White said during the UFC 254 pre-fight press conference (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting).

While Nurmagomedov could become the best pound for pound fighter in the world on Saturday, the UFC still has him ranked #2 in their pound for pound rankings, behind Jon Jones. White says that Nurmagomedov’s ranking in the UFC’s pound for pound list could change after UFC 254 as well.

“You know what I think of Jon Jones and we always talk about what Jon’s accomplished in his career,” White explained. “Look at how many fights this guy has and he’s still undefeated, and this is a nasty, nasty weight division.”
