Dana White Shoots Down Possible Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal Fight

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor announced another retirement from professional MMA competition a short time after UFC 250.

There has been rumors that McGegor could return to face BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal, but UFC President Dana White says the bout isn’t happening, since McGregor is retired.

“Conor McGregor’s retired,” White said when Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports asked about a potential Masvidal match up (via Ryan MacCarthy of Low Kick MMA).

This is a slight change in stance for White, who had previously said a bout between McGregor and Masvidal is possible.

McGregor is also still listed in the USADA drug testing pool despite being retired and White says some retired fighters do remain in the pool after their careers have ended.

“Probably,” White said. “But people have retired and stayed in the testing pool. It has happened before. And then they get tired of it and bail out of it.”

It would appear, at least for now, that one of the biggest dream fights left in the UFC won’t be taking place.
