Dana White Teases Jon Jones Getting Interim Heavyweight Title Shot In 2022

UFC President Dana White teased the possibility of former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, getting a shot at an interim heavyweight title in 2022.

White recently spoke with ESPN's Brett Okamoto and revealed that if current UFC heavyweight champ, Francis Ngannou, is forced out for an extended period of time due to his recent knee surgery it could create an opening for Jones to step in as one half of an eventual interim title fight.

“I haven’t thought about it at all, but yeah, it sounds like something we would do,” White said (h/t MMA Junkie). “Not until we know what Francis is gonna do or what’s gonna happen, but if that’s the case, if he ends up sitting out for a year, Jon could come right in and fight for a title.”
